PutAway Workflow (Admin Portal)

Overview

Putting products away is an essential part of daily warehouse operations. The PutAway workflow moves inventory from receiving, staging, or interim locations into permanent warehouse bins. Products can be added to PutAway lists through the PutAway module in the Skustack app, directly from the Admin Portal, or during Purchase Order and Container receiving. Once added to a PutAway list, inventory can be transferred to its final warehouse location and tracked throughout the process.

Bin-enabled warehouses can use Directed Putaway to generate a recommended destination bin during putaway. Recommendations are based on product quantity thresholds, inventory currently stored in Primary locations, and available warehouse bins.

PutAway lists can be created and managed both from the Admin portal and the Skustack app.

Manage PutAway Lists

The Skustack Admin portal lets you easily create and search for existing PutAway lists, monitor their progress, and export them to Excel.

Create PutAway Lists

To create a PutAway list:

1. Navigate to the Skustack Admin portal at https://xx.skustack.com (replace “xx” with your server ID or team name).

2. Enter your login credentials.

3. Go to Transfer > Manage Putaway Lists and click the + button in the bottom-right corner.
   

4. In the Create New PutAway List dialog, select:

   • Title - Optional name for the PutAway activity.

   • Warehouse - Select the warehouse where the PutAway activity will be performed. For bin-enabled warehouses, the following fields must also be completed.

   • From Bin - The source bin containing the inventory to be put away.

   • To Bin - The destination bin where the inventory will be moved.

   • Choose how the list will be populated:

     • Select All Contents Of Bin To Build List - Adds all inventory currently stored in the selected source bin.

     • Add Items Manually - Creates an empty PutAway list so products can be added individually.

5. Click Add.
   

Search PutAway Lists

To find existing PutAway Lists:

1. Navigate to Transfer > Manage Putaway Lists.

2. Configure your Default filters to make sure that the results display exactly what you need.

3. Click Search. Each filter you apply gets highlighted. If a filter is gray or not displayed at all, it’s not active.

4. To manage the columns in the grid, click the three dots icon on the top right and select Customize Columns. You can:

   • Reorder columns by dragging them up or down in the list.

   • Hide columns by clicking the Trash icons.

   • Add columns by clicking Add column.

5. To arrange the data in a different order, use the Sort by menu.

6. To save your filtering and sorting options, click Save view, enter a Name, and click Save.

7. Select a putaway list from the grid and access the Actions menu to either Export To Excel or Close it.

Directed PutAway

In bin-enabled warehouses, putaway destination bins can be determined through Directed PutAway. Rather than evaluating stock levels and available storage locations before each putaway transaction, Directed PutAway checks product inventory thresholds, current stock levels, and available warehouse locations to recommend an appropriate destination bin.

The recommendation is intended to maintain inventory in Primary locations, which are typically used for picking activities, while directing excess inventory to Non-Primary locations used for reserve and overflow. The suggested destination is generated at the time of putaway and can be accepted or overridden as needed.

Products Primary Bin Thresholds

To use Directed PutAway, configure the following fields on the product's Details page:

• Primary Bin Min Qty - Defines the minimum desired quantity in Primary locations. When inventory falls at or below this level, the product becomes eligible for replenishment.

• Primary Bin Max Qty - Defines the maximum desired quantity in Primary locations. This value is used when determining replenishment quantities and putaway destination recommendations.

Primary Bin quantity thresholds are configured per product and apply across all warehouses. When inventory is put away, Skustack compares the quantity currently stored in the product's Primary locations, together with the incoming quantity, against the configured Primary Bin Max Qty. If the total remains within the configured maximum, the recommendation targets a Primary location. If the total would exceed the configured maximum, the recommendation targets a Non-Primary location.
